GOLFWEEK MAGAZINE'S TOP 50 BEST NEW COURSES IN THE COUNTRY FOR 2008 - The Atchafalaya at Idlewild made the list in the 22nd spot!!
The list includes courses opened between 2005 and 2007. It features all types of facilities, private, public, and resort. The Atchafalaya ranked 6th among daily fee operations and the only Louisiana course to be listed.

2006 AMERICA'S BEST NEW PUBLIC GOLF COURSE UNDER $75
The Atchafalaya Golf Course at IDLEWILD made Golf Digest's 2006 list of "Best New Public Courses to play in the United States for under $75". We placed #5 in the nation. The Atchafalaya seems to be heading in the right direction. We have countinued to put Louisiana on the golf map.
PATTERSON GOLF COURSE MAY SOON BE ONE OF TOP 100
"The Atchafalaya at Idlewild Golf Course seems perched and ready to become one of the top courses not only in Louisiana, but along the entire Gulf Coast." Sports writer, Sam King (The Baton Rouge Advocate, October 16, 2005) says "although its 10,000 square foot clubhouse is still under construction and more finishing touches are needed, the course may soon rank among the Top 100 in the nation by giving golfers a taste of the rich history of the Atchafalaya Basin."
THE ATCHAFALAYA GOLF COURSE AT IDLEWILD WAS CHOSEN BY THE AUDUBON GOLF TRAIL - The prestigious Audubon Golf Trail selected the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild to be a member facility in January, 2006. COURSE RECORD
Tillman Simmons claims the new course record of 66.
Tillman, the Head Golf Professional at St. Mary Golf & Country Club buried a 10-foot birdie on the long hole #18 to eclipse the previous course record of 70.
David Church and Mike Heinen had shared the previous record of 70.
Ashton Abel fired an impressive 4-under par 68 from the Eagle Tees for the lowest recorded score by a junior golfer.
An impressive note - The course record has withstood a PGA qualifier and Louisiana Amateur Event.
